Sterile Water for InjectionNo preservative โ€” refrigerate and use promptly after reconstituting.
โš—๏ธ
Acetic AcidFor compounds that require an acidic solvent for dissolution.
๐Ÿ”ฌ
PBS / SalineFor in-vitro cell assays. Isotonic, minimal interference.
๐Ÿงช
DMSOFor compounds with very low aqueous solubility. Use with care.

Step-by-Step Reconstitution Protocol
1
Use this calculator first

Enter your mg in vial, solvent volume, and target amount. Write down your measured volume (mL) and reference units โ€” you'll use these numbers for each measurement.

2
Gather your supplies

Lyophilized peptide vial, your chosen solvent vial, U-100 insulin syringe, alcohol swabs, clean surface. Wash hands thoroughly.

3
Swab all vial stoppers

Wipe the top of both vials with a fresh alcohol swab. Air dry 10โ€“15 seconds before proceeding.

4
Draw your calculated volume of solvent

Insert needle into your solvent vial, invert, and draw slowly. Tap to clear bubbles.

5
Add solvent to peptide vial โ€” run it down the wall

Tilt the peptide vial at 45ยฐ. Let the water run slowly down the inside glass wall โ€” never shoot it directly onto the powder cake. This prevents agitation damage to the peptide bonds.

6
Swirl gently โ€” never shake

Roll between palms until the powder dissolves into a clear, colorless solution. 30โ€“60 seconds typical. If cloudy after 2 minutes, gentle warmth from your palm may help.

7
Inspect & label

Should be clear. Discard if cloudy, discolored, or has visible particles. Use the Label Generator tab to print a label โ€” include reconstitution date and discard date.

8
Store at 2โ€“8ยฐC

Refrigerate immediately. Keep out of light. Use within the shelf life window appropriate for your solvent. Never store reconstituted peptide at room temperature.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is bacteriostatic water and why is it better than sterile water?
BAC water contains 0.9% benzyl alcohol as a bacteriostatic preservative. This inhibits bacterial growth, allowing a reconstituted vial to stay stable at 2โ€“8ยฐC for 28โ€“30 days. Sterile Water for Injection contains no preservative and should be used promptly per your research protocol. For any multi-use research protocol, BAC water is the standard.
My peptide won't dissolve in BAC water โ€” what do I do?
Some compounds require a different solvent for complete dissolution. Acetic acid is commonly used as an initial solvent for such compounds โ€” dissolve in a small volume first, then dilute with BAC water to your target volume. Refer to the solvent guidance for your specific compound. Never force dissolution by shaking vigorously.
How do I read a U-100 insulin syringe?
A U-100 syringe holds 1mL marked in 100 units. Each unit = 0.01mL. So 10 units = 0.10mL, 25 units = 0.25mL. This calculator shows both the mL value and the equivalent U-100 unit mark for every calculation.
My draw is less than 2 units โ€” how do I measure it accurately?
A draw under 0.02mL is very hard to measure precisely. Use the Reverse Calculator tab to find a solvent volume that gives you a larger, easier-to-measure draw. Aim for 5โ€“30 units for best accuracy. Alternatively, a U-30 syringe with finer graduations can help with smaller volumes.
What's the difference between mg and mcg?
1mg = 1,000 mcg. Peptide vials are labelled in milligrams (e.g. 10mg). Amounts for some compounds are discussed in micrograms (e.g. 250โ€“500 mcg = 0.25โ€“0.5 mg). This calculator defaults to mg throughout with an mcg toggle wherever needed.
Can I mix two peptides in one vial?
Yes, for compatible compounds โ€” see the Blend Calculator tab. Both peptides must be compatible with the same solvent. The calculator handles the math, showing individual concentration and draw volume for each compound in the shared solution.
How long does a reconstituted vial last?
When reconstituted with BAC water and stored at 2โ€“8ยฐC, most peptides remain stable for 28โ€“30 days. Shelf life varies by solvent โ€” see the Solvent Selection Guide above for specifics. Always discard if the solution becomes cloudy, discolored, or has visible particles. Label vials with reconstitution and discard dates.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you calculate peptide reconstitution?

To calculate peptide reconstitution: (1) Divide peptide amount by desired concentration, (2) Add that volume of bacteriostatic water, (3) Use our calculator for precise measurements with no math required.

What’s the best solvent for peptide reconstitution?

Bacteriostatic water is the most common solvent for peptide reconstitution, providing sterility and extended storage life for research applications.

How much bacteriostatic water for 5mg peptide?

For 5mg peptide, typically add 1-2ml bacteriostatic water. Use our peptide calculator above to determine exact amounts for your desired concentration.

Can I mix different peptides together?

Yes! Use our Blend calculator tab to safely combine multiple peptides. Our calculator ensures proper ratios and provides exact measurements for complex blends.
