About This Guide
This guide covers BPC-157 reconstitution and research dosing protocols as documented in the published preclinical literature. It is written for researchers working with BPC-157 as a laboratory compound. All dosing information references animal model research data — BPC-157 is sold exclusively as a Research-Use-Only (RUO) compound and is not approved for human use. For reconstitution calculations specific to your vial size and desired working concentration, use our free peptide calculator.
What Is BPC-157?
BPC-157 (Body Protection Compound-157) is a synthetic pentadecapeptide (15 amino acids, molecular weight approximately 1,419.5 Da) derived from a protective protein found in human gastric juice. It is one of the most extensively studied regenerative peptides in the preclinical research literature, with published studies spanning tendon repair, muscle healing, bone regeneration, gut protection, angiogenesis, neurological function, and cytoprotection across multiple organ systems. For a comprehensive overview of BPC-157’s mechanisms and research applications, see our BPC-157 Researcher’s Complete Guide.
BPC-157 Vial Contents and Concentrations
Available Vial Sizes
AminoForge BPC-157 is available in 5mg and 10mg vials of lyophilized powder. The vial contains only the peptide — no excipients, buffers, or stabilizers. Reconstitution volume is determined by the researcher based on desired working concentration.
Reconstitution Math
The standard approach: decide your target concentration, then calculate the volume of bacteriostatic water needed to achieve it.
Example for a 5mg vial:
- Add 2.5mL bacteriostatic water → concentration = 2mg/mL (2,000mcg/mL)
- Add 5mL bacteriostatic water → concentration = 1mg/mL (1,000mcg/mL)
- Add 10mL bacteriostatic water → concentration = 0.5mg/mL (500mcg/mL)
Example for a 10mg vial:
- Add 2mL bacteriostatic water → concentration = 5mg/mL (5,000mcg/mL)
- Add 5mL bacteriostatic water → concentration = 2mg/mL (2,000mcg/mL)
- Add 10mL bacteriostatic water → concentration = 1mg/mL (1,000mcg/mL)

Dosing in the Published Preclinical Literature
Dose Ranges Used in Animal Studies
Published BPC-157 preclinical research has used a wide range of doses depending on the model organism, administration route, and research outcome being measured. The majority of published studies in rodent models have used doses in the range of 1–10 mcg/kg to 100–200 mcg/kg body weight, administered by subcutaneous injection, intramuscular injection, intraperitoneal injection, or oral gavage. Some studies have used doses as low as 0.01 mcg/kg and still reported measurable biological effects, which is consistent with BPC-157’s characterization as a highly potent compound at low concentrations in preclinical models.
Route-Dependent Bioavailability Considerations
Published research has examined BPC-157 activity across multiple administration routes. Parenteral routes (subcutaneous, intramuscular, intraperitoneal) provide direct systemic delivery. Oral administration has also been studied — unusually for a peptide, BPC-157 demonstrates significant biological activity following oral administration in rodent models despite the proteolytic environment of the gastrointestinal tract, which has been attributed to its gastric-derived sequence providing partial resistance to gastric proteases. Intranasal administration has been explored in neurological research models. Route selection in research designs should be driven by the biological question and target tissue.
Acute vs Chronic Protocol Designs
Published BPC-157 studies have used both single-administration acute designs (examining immediate cytoprotective or regenerative responses) and chronic multi-week administration protocols (examining tissue healing outcomes over time). Healing and tissue regeneration studies typically run 1–4 weeks in rodent models, with outcome assessments at defined timepoints. Neurological and systemic studies have used protocol lengths ranging from days to weeks depending on the mechanistic question.
Reconstitution Protocol
Materials Needed
- BPC-157 lyophilized powder vial
- Bacteriostatic water (Hospira or equivalent pharmaceutical grade)
- Sterile syringe and needle appropriate for your vial septum
- Alcohol swabs for vial septum preparation
Reconstitution Steps
Allow the lyophilized vial to equilibrate to room temperature before opening — this prevents atmospheric moisture from condensing on the cold powder. Swab the vial septum with an alcohol wipe. Draw the calculated volume of bacteriostatic water into a sterile syringe. Insert the needle at an angle into the vial septum and inject the bacteriostatic water slowly down the side of the vial — do not inject directly onto the powder cake. Gently swirl to dissolve — the solution should become clear. Do not vigorously vortex. Label the vial with the concentration and reconstitution date.
Storage of Reconstituted Solution
Store reconstituted BPC-157 at 2–8°C (refrigerator temperature), protected from light. Reconstituted solutions in bacteriostatic water are stable for 4–6 weeks under these conditions for most research purposes. For longer storage, aliquot into single-use volumes and freeze at −20°C, minimizing freeze-thaw cycles. BPC-157 in the AminoForge Research Catalog
BPC-157 is one of the most versatile and extensively studied compounds in the AminoForge catalog. Researchers frequently study it alongside TB-500 for complementary tissue repair mechanisms — the combination is available as the pre-formulated Wolverine Blend. For multi-mechanism tissue and skin research, the GLOW Blend adds GHK-Cu to the BPC-157/TB-500 combination. For the mechanistic basis of these combinations, see our BPC-157 vs TB-500 Research Overview and Wolverine Blend Research Overview.
